Renowned Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie Taylor joyfully welcomes the early arrival of her second child, a baby boy, but the unexpected timing has regrettably led to her withdrawal from a much-anticipated performance at the Royal Variety.
Having disclosed the pregnancy with her husband Phil Black in September, the comedian found herself in a whirlwind as the bundle of joy made an early entrance into the world.
On Thursday, November 29, Ellie took to Instagram to share a pre-performance glimpse for the Royal Variety Performance. The television personality, slated to grace the iconic stage, expressed disappointment as her baby had alternate plans.
Captioning the image, she wrote, “This is the fabulous outfit I was meant to be wearing tonight while doing stand-up at the Royal Variety Performance in front of 4,000 people, including Prince and Princess of Wales. Swipe to see the actual outfit I’ll be wearing tonight due to the surprise early arrival of my own little HRH…”
Accompanying the post was another picture, portraying Ellie in a hospital setting, cradling her newborn son. She stated, “Gutted to miss out but also very, very happy to be wearing giant mesh knickers and saying: ‘But his skin is just so SOFT!’ 10 times an hour. Mother and baby doing well because Mummy has access to morphine and Baby has access to boobies. Wishing the rest of the performers the best night for a fantastic cause! Wishing me 12 hours sleep and a massive Pina Colada (not with the morphine, don’t worry…).”
This newest addition to Ellie’s family marks her second child with CNN freelance reporter Phil Black. The couple, married since 2015, previously welcomed their daughter Valentina in 2018.
Ellie, whose illustrious career includes appearances on shows like Bake Off: The Professionals and the widely acclaimed comedy series Ted Lasso, participated in Strictly Come Dancing in 2022. Partnered with Johannes Radebe, the duo showcased their dancing prowess, reaching an impressive run until week 10 before bidding farewell to the competition.
