In response to allegations of medical negligence leading to the demise of a 40-year-old woman and her newborn child, the Lok Bandhu Hospital in Lucknow has established a five-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation.
Aarti Sharma, a 40-year-old resident of Sarojini Nagar, was admitted to Lok Bandhu Hospital on November 24 due to labor pain. Tragically, during the delivery process, the newborn, weighing five and a half kilograms—approximately one and a half kilograms above the normal range—did not survive.
According to the grieving family, Aarti was initially slated for a Cesarean section, but allegedly, due to pressure from the in-laws, doctors opted for a normal delivery, resulting in the tragic loss of both the mother and the infant.
Kuldeep, Aarti’s brother, expressed concerns over the decision-making process, emphasizing that the medical team’s deviation from the planned C-section ultimately led to the devastating outcome.
Medical Superintendent of Lok Bandhu Hospital, Ajay Tripathi, responded to the grave incident, stating, “We have constituted a committee to investigate the matter and submit its report within a week. Action will be taken based on the findings of the committee.”
The formation of the committee underscores the hospital’s commitment to a transparent and thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident. The public awaits the committee’s findings, anticipating accountability for any lapses in the medical care provided to Aarti Sharma and her newborn.
