Parents and caregivers who have purchased certain baby products for infants and newborns on Amazon are being urgently advised to cease usage, following a notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The Miracle Baby Loungers, available on Amazon, recently underwent evaluation by the CPSC, revealing serious safety concerns and a violation of federal regulations. The design of these baby loungers, coupled with inadequate labeling, poses significant risks of suffocation and falls for infants sleeping in them.

As the regulatory authority responsible for establishing standards for infant sleep products, the CPSC is urging consumers who have bought these specific products to dispose of them immediately. While efforts are underway to directly notify affected customers and seek redress from the seller, it appears that the problematic products are no longer available on the brand’s Amazon storefront.

Key Safety Concerns

The CPSC has highlighted that the Miracle Baby Loungers fail to meet federal safety regulations, specifically contravening CPSC’s Infant Sleep Products standards. The absence of an integrated stand in the design creates an unsafe sleeping environment for infants, elevating the risk of suffocation or falls. Additionally, the baby loungers lack essential labeling and information, such as the manufacturing date and proper instructions for safe use.

Identification and Recall Information

Sold exclusively on Amazon by the Chinese seller Yichang Lanqier Garment Co. Ltd., operating under the moniker Miracle Baby, these baby loungers have been subject to a Notice of Violation from the CPSC. Despite the notice, the company has declined to formally recall the products or propose solutions to customers. Those who have purchased the compromised products will receive notifications from CPSC via mail.

The concerned baby loungers were available on Amazon between June and November 2022, priced between $30 and $50. Identifiable by the tag displaying “Miracle Baby,” these products come in various fabric print options, including New Bear, Bee, Blue Star, Cat, Deer, Elephant, New Blue Star, New Panda, New Pink Star, Pink Cross, Sea, Whale, and White Cross.

Discontinuation and Safe Disposal

CPSC strongly advises anyone owning a Miracle Baby Lounger from Amazon to immediately discontinue its use. The recommended method of disposal involves unzipping the cover and cutting up the fabric, along with the accompanying sleeping pad and side bumpers. The resulting pieces should then be appropriately discarded in a trash receptacle.
