Mother Charged After 7-Month-Old Baby’s Near-Drowning Incident in San Antonio Bathtub

SAN ANTONIO — A 29-year-old mother is facing charges following an incident where her 7-month-old baby nearly drowned in a bathtub, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The incident unfolded when officers responded to a distress call reporting a drowning in the 8800 block of Starcrest Drive . Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the mother administering chest compressions to the infant.

First responders promptly took control of life-saving efforts, and the critically injured baby was transported to a local hospital.

According to the police statement, the mother had left the baby unattended in the tub with the water running, taking several minutes to attend to matters in the kitchen. Upon her return, she found the tub overflowing, and the baby unresponsive. Consequently, the woman has been charged with injury to a child.
