KUALA LUMPUR, November 5, 2023 – A Malaysian couple has come under intense scrutiny and criticism from the public after they made the controversial choice to repeatedly change their 6-month-old baby‘s formula milk as part of their involvement in a movement boycotting products associated with Israel.

The contentious episode unfolded when a screenshot, purportedly of the baby’s mother seeking advice about her child’s well-being after switching formula milk four times to avoid Israeli-linked products, was shared on the X platform.

The screenshot is believed to have originated from the Facebook group “Kelab Ibu Mengandung Malaysia,” where the mother reached out to fellow members, inquiring if anyone had encountered a similar situation involving their child having bloody stools.

In her post, the mother revealed the challenging circumstances she faced, as she was compelled to adhere to her husband’s “taklik” condition, aimed at preventing divorce, which mandated avoiding the use of formula milk associated with Israeli ties.

She wrote, “Has anyone here had experience dealing with their baby having bloody stool? My child is 6 months old, and since the beginning of the boycott campaign, we have changed formula milk four times. We visited the doctor and were given saline water and an ointment to apply. We were advised to switch to a different formula milk. But I am bound by the ‘taklik,’ and if I give my child formula milk that should be boycotted, it will lead to a divorce.”

The mother’s actions and predicament stirred strong emotions among the public, with many expressing their distress for the child who had become an unwitting victim of the parents‘ decisions.

Several individuals, including a user known as Magician Wenger, expressed their outrage by commenting, “These kinds of parents should not exist. Animals are better at taking care of their children.”

Other concerned netizens suggested the woman consider finding a new husband, questioning the wisdom of a spouse willing to endanger their child for the sake of their beliefs.

“Sis, you should find a new husband. If a husband can threaten his wife with ‘talak’ and is willing to put his child in danger, it is obvious that he is toxic and has no right to have a family. He has no love. Please stop changing the formula milk as it would affect your child,” remarked another user, Sya.

The couple’s decision to prioritize a product boycott over their child’s health has ignited a broader conversation about the ethical and moral dilemmas surrounding such movements, and the potential consequences for innocent individuals caught in the crossfire.
