The incident unfolded at approximately 13:00 BST when vigilant bystanders noticed the duo struggling in the treacherous mud and promptly alerted local lifeguards to the dire situation.
Swiftly responding to the emergency call, Merseyside Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to the scene. Their highly-trained personnel expertly navigated the hazardous conditions and successfully facilitated the safe extraction of the distressed individuals from the muddy quagmire.

An RNLI spokesperson remarked, “If you are planning to visit Crosby Beach, the RNLI advice is to stay within 50m (150ft) of the promenade and don’t attempt to enter the water if red flags are flying. If you see someone in trouble, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.”
