Rupert Grint, best known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has shared the exciting news of the arrival of his second child with partner Georgia Groome. The 36-year-old actor made the announcement on Instagram on April 27, introducing their daughter, Goldie G. Grint.
Alongside a heartwarming photo of Goldie wearing a white onesie and a tiny grey cardigan, Grint wrote, “‘Secret Child Slightly Revealed’ Introducing Goldie G. Grint.” He also expressed his gratitude to their OB-GYN, writing, “Shoutout to @alex.digesu for always delivering.”
Grint and Groome’s first child, a girl named Wednesday G. Grint, was born in May 2020. In a November 2020 Instagram post, Grint shared a touching image of him cuddling with Wednesday.
In 2022, while speaking to Dylan Dreyer on TODAY, Grint shared that he had shown Wednesday, then just 2 years old, a few Harry Potter trailers to see if she recognized him as Ron Weasley—and she did. “She can,” he proudly stated. Wednesday also has a Pez dispenser featuring her dad’s likeness as Ron.
Grint had expressed his desire to become a father even earlier. In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, he mentioned, “I’d like to settle down and have kids soon.” At the time, he jokingly entertained the idea of naming a son “Ron,” though he acknowledged that “Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.”
In a 2021 interview with Glamour, Grint reflected on how fatherhood changed him. “I’ve changed as a person for sure. It kind of happened overnight, lifestyle-wise. I stopped smoking straight away.” He also expressed support for Wednesday’s potential interest in acting, saying, “I would want her to do what she wants, but I think I’d be a real stage mum.”
