Bereaved Father Completes Skydive to Raise Funds for Hospital That Supported Him

by daisy

Daniel Hancock, 45, from Ramsgate, has completed a 12,000ft skydive to raise £420 for East Kent Hospitals Charity in memory of his baby son, Daniel Jr., who tragically passed away at 18 weeks gestation.

The fundraising jump supported the maternity bereavement service at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital (QEQM) in Margate, which helped Daniel and his partner, Louise Collier, during their difficult time.

Mr. Hancock praised the hospital’s Ocean Suite, a dedicated space where parents can make memories with their baby, supported by bereavement midwives. He said, “Without this service, we would never have been able to make precious memories with him.”

The couple, who recently welcomed their daughter Jessie, continue to be supported by QEQM’s bereavement team. They also gave their daughter the middle name Emma, in honor of midwife Emma Barritt.

Ms. Collier added, “We hope the funds raised can help others in similar situations.”
