Fruselva USA has recalled more than 25,000 units of its Good & Gather Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Puree, distributed by Target, due to concerns about lead contamination. The recall was announced on March 12, 2025, and affects products sold across the United States.
The affected baby food comes in 4-ounce packages, intended for children aged six months and older. The recalled products have lot numbers 4169 and 4167, with best-by dates of Dec. 7 and Dec. 9, 2025.
This recall is classified as a Class II recall, indicating a low risk of serious health effects. However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned that lead exposure, even in small amounts, can lead to developmental delays and other health issues. Though such effects are often temporary or medically reversible, parents and caregivers are advised to take caution.
The recall notice urges consumers and businesses to refrain from using, selling, or distributing the affected baby food. Fruselva USA is working to remove the products from store shelves and has advised customers to check their purchases for the affected lot numbers and expiration dates.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported so far. However, as a precaution, consumers seeking more details about the recall can visit the FDA website or contact Target customer service.
Fruselva USA is not currently facing any legal action related to the recall, although recalls of this nature may sometimes lead to class-action lawsuits, according to Top Class Actions.
Meanwhile, Abbott Laboratories is facing its own legal challenges, with class-action allegations for failing to disclose the presence of heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury in its Similac infant formula.
