Frida is preparing to launch an ice cream that mimics the taste and nutritional profile of breast milk, with a release planned to coincide with the length of a full pregnancy. This bold move makes Frida the first major company in the baby product industry to venture into such a unique market.
The ice cream will replicate key nutrients found in breast milk, including Omega-3 fats, lactose, iron, and calcium. However, the company has not revealed if real breast milk will be used in the recipe.
This product is part of Frida’s strategy to boost sales of their hand-operated breast pumps, with the ice cream packaged in pink and white to match their existing product line. Research shows that around 70% of mothers have tasted their own breast milk, and now, others curious about the flavor can try it without consuming human milk.
A PR representative confirmed to People Magazine that this is indeed a real product launch, dismissing rumors that it’s just a publicity stunt.
While this is the first such product from a major company, a London ice cream shop made headlines in 2011 with its “Baby Gaga” ice cream made from real human milk, which was quickly banned by health authorities over safety concerns.
Celebrities, including Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Ashley Graham, have openly discussed trying their own breast milk.
Frida is no stranger to bold marketing. In 2020, their Oscar ad was rejected by TV networks for being too graphic.
Social media buzz shows strong interest in the upcoming ice cream, though Frida has yet to announce the price or where it will be available for purchase.
