Elisabeth Moss has revealed that she became a mother in 2024, sharing that she was “so fortunate” to have her newborn with her on set while filming the sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale in Vancouver.
During a PaleyFest LA event on March 26, Moss expressed her gratitude, noting, “So many parents cannot” bring their children to work. “Any of us who had the privilege of being able to bring our kids or see our kids at work, we would every single time be like, ‘Aren’t we lucky to get to do that?'”
The 42-year-old actress, who announced her pregnancy in January 2024, spoke about the “beautiful synergy” between her personal motherhood experience and that of her character, June Osborne. She described how the connection between her real-life journey and her role made her final season portrayal of June more emotionally resonant.
“I’m really glad that I got to have this last season playing June with a little bit more of a visceral emotional experience of some of the things that June is talking about or fighting for,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in a March 28 interview.
Moss’ co-star, O-T Fagbenle, who plays her onscreen husband, remarked on how motherhood subtly impacted Moss’ acting. He noted, “This show is so much about people and their children and about motherhood, and what it is to give birth, and Lizzie went through that.” He added that he was happy for her and fondly recalled the moment he saw her after she had experienced motherhood.
Moss, who was previously married to Fred Armisen from 2009 to 2011, has not disclosed the identity of her baby’s father.
