Pennsylvania Fire Chief Charged with Dropping Infant, Fracturing Skull

Falls Township Fire Chief Brian Salt, 36, has been charged after allegedly dropping his 3-month-old daughter, causing a skull fracture. The incident occurred on March 11, and Salt was charged with three counts, including endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated assault, and simple assault.

The Falls Township Fire Department announced Salt’s indefinite suspension, stating that the department is awaiting the legal proceedings’ outcome. The department expressed sympathy for the Salt family during this time.

According to a criminal complaint, Salt told investigators that he “lost control” when his daughter wouldn’t stop crying while he was alone with her after his wife left for work. Salt allegedly intentionally dropped the child. The infant was taken to a children’s hospital for treatment.

Salt is currently in custody at Bucks County Jail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 2. The case has drawn attention in the community of Falls Township, which has a population of around 34,000.
