Seven-Month-Old Baby Dies After Swallowing Balloon in Thanjavur

THANJAVUR, India — A seven-month-old baby boy died after accidentally swallowing a balloon in Thanjavur on Tuesday.

On Monday evening, the child’s parents, Sathish Kumar (35) and Sivakami (30), found their son, Pragadeesan, lying unresponsive on the floor. His mother quickly attempted to feed him, but the baby suddenly lost consciousness. Panicked, the parents rushed him to Pattukkottai Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

The baby’s body was later transferred to Thanjavur Government Hospital for a post-mortem. Medical examination revealed that a balloon was lodged in the child’s throat, and doctors confirmed that he had died from suffocation.

The Thiruvonam police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the tragic incident.
