Lil Baby Responds After Atlanta Police Link Him to Murders of Two 13-Year-Old Boys

by daisy

Rapper Lil Baby has responded after Atlanta police suggested his actions may have contributed to the deaths of two 13-year-old boys. The tragic shooting occurred in the Dixie Hills neighborhood of Atlanta last May, with rumors circulating that it took place on the set of a music video for the rapper, whose real name is Dominique Jones. On July 2, 2024, two 13-year-old boys, Jakody Davis and Lamon Freeman, were fatally shot at Freeman’s birthday party in the same city.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Atlanta detectives revealed that the attack was “orchestrated” from prison by members of one of Atlanta’s most violent gangs. While the police did not directly name Lil Baby, a criminal warrant mentioned that a “cowardly rapper” had caused a rise in gang violence by filming a music video in rival gang territory, which eventually led to the deaths of the two boys.

In response to the claims, Lil Baby posted a brief statement on Instagram, urging followers not to be misled by false reports. He wrote, “Thanks for all the concerns, please don’t be misinformed by fake news!! I’m overly good.”

The rapper’s legal team also issued a statement, strongly refuting the police department’s insinuations. Attorneys Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg condemned the department’s remarks, calling them “complete and total nonsense.” They explained that decisions about video locations are made by professional teams, not by individual artists, and argued that implicating Lil Baby in the crime was unprofessional and unethical. The statement also highlighted that Lil Baby is deeply saddened by the incident, as the victims were from his neighborhood, and reiterated his commitment to supporting his community.
