A woman and her baby narrowly escaped an attempted assault in Forest Park on Sunday evening, according to a post she made on Facebook, first reported by La Dernière Heure. The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident.
The woman was walking through the park with her baby around 7:30 p.m. when a man approached her from behind and placed her in a chokehold. Despite her screams and her baby’s cries, the attacker began groping her. In a desperate move, the woman fought back, kneeing the attacker in the crotch, which allowed her to break free and run away.
She then sought help from other park-goers, who stayed with her until emergency services arrived.
“The victim has filed a complaint, and an investigation is underway,” the Public Prosecutor’s Office said. “Efforts are being made to identify the attacker.”
