A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of his newborn son in Spring Valley on Wednesday.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies from the Rancho San Diego Station responded to a call about a battery at a home on the 500 block of Sacramento Avenue around 1:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered an unconscious baby boy on the living room floor, suffering from head trauma. Paramedics from the San Miguel Fire Department attempted to assist, but the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.
The father, identified as David Ruiz, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder. Authorities did not provide further details on the child’s age, and the motive behind the tragedy remains under investigation.
