MONROE, La. (KNOE) – In this edition of “What’s Your Story,” reporter Aaron Dietrich joins Lindsey Braddock and Patrina Riley to share the story behind the Tarver Braddock Foundation.
Lindsey founded the Tarver Braddock Foundation in 2024 after the tragic death of her son, Tarver, in a deer camp accident in January.
The Ouachita Parish community mourned the loss of 16-year-old Tarver, a young man known for spreading joy and positivity.
Lindsey explained that the foundation honors Tarver’s legacy by carrying out random acts of kindness in his memory.
“It is so special for him to be remembered, but also so hard,” said Lindsey.
Lindsey and Patrina recently partnered to bring kindness to a neighbor in need.
Ericka Carter, a single mother, had faced a series of unexpected financial challenges, making it a difficult year for her. She works full-time and runs a nail business from her home.
Lindsey and Patrina visited Ericka at her home and shared a heartfelt moment.
“Let me tell you a story. This is my son, Tarver. I am Lindsey. Let me give you a hug,” Lindsey said before revealing the surprise.
Ericka’s rent for the rest of the year had been paid for by the foundation.
The impact of this gesture was clear to Ericka, who said, “They think about the small people. They think about the little people. I hate that he had to lose his life to make this foundation happen.”
Since its founding, the Tarver Braddock Foundation has contributed over $111,000 in scholarships, sponsorships, and other surprise gifts to support the community.
