The Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant (UOMP), a part of the Russian state corporation Rostec, has delivered 50 phototherapeutic irradiators to Kyrgyzstan to help treat newborns. These devices will be distributed to hospitals and perinatal centers across the country, according to a statement from the company.
The OFN-02 phototherapeutic irradiator is designed to treat neonatal jaundice, a condition that can cause high bilirubin levels in the blood. The device helps reduce the risk of complications associated with this condition. It is lightweight, compact, and can be used in tight spaces. The irradiators can be mounted either on a stand or directly on a neonatal incubator, allowing for effective phototherapy without discomfort for infants.
Anatoly Sludnykh, the General Director of UOMP, noted, “We have a strong partnership with Kyrgyzstan, and we are pleased to supply 50 new phototherapy devices to the country’s medical institutions. Our specialists will assist with the setup of the equipment and provide ongoing training for medical staff.”
UOMP produces a wide range of medical equipment, including neonatal care devices, resuscitation tools, and respiratory therapy systems.
The Shvabe holding, part of Rostec, oversees numerous industrial and research facilities in Russia. It is a key player in the country’s optical industry, producing optoelectronic equipment for both civilian and security applications.
