THOMASTON — Healthy Kids will host a free Community Baby Shower and Resource Fair on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Thomaston Academy Gym, located at 60 Main St., Thomaston.
The event is open to all expecting parents and families from Lincoln and Knox counties. It aims to offer both fun and educational resources to those preparing for a new addition to their family.
The first 100 families who register by February 8 at healthkidsmaine.org will receive a welcome bag filled with helpful information, resources, and useful items. The event will feature a boutique with new and gently used baby clothing and equipment, a raffle offering a variety of baby supplies and equipment, and a balloon arch for photo opportunities (donated by Gears and Vinyl).
Attendees can also enjoy free shoulder, neck, or foot massages, provided by Camden Maine Massage Therapy, as well as light refreshments and coffee, donated by Flipside Coffee and French and Brawn.
A variety of resource providers will be available at the Resource Fair to offer valuable information and support. Participating organizations include the Alfond Scholarship Foundation, Coastal Recovery Community Center, Early Intervention for ME, Maine Families, MaineHealth, Head Start programs, and many more.
Healthy Kids extends its thanks to the many partners who have supported this event, including Coastal Recovery Community Center, Maine CDC, MaineHealth, and the Thomaston Public Library. Over 30 businesses and organizations have contributed to the event through donations, volunteering, or hosting donation boxes.
Healthy Kids offers a variety of services for families in Lincoln and Knox counties, including parenting classes, support groups, and educational activities. Its mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect, while promoting family well-being and child safety.
This event is part of a series of Community Baby Showers organized across Maine by members of the Maine Prevention Council. Healthy Kids also offers ongoing parenting training and support through virtual and in-person programs.
