Fashion designer Masaba Gupta has been open about her pregnancy journey on social media. Now, after welcoming her baby, she continues to share her postpartum experiences with her followers. Recently, she hosted an Instagram AMA session where she addressed various questions from her fans.
During the session, one user asked if Gupta was “healing okay after delivery.” In response, she admitted, “I wish I gave myself some more time,” revealing that she regretted returning to work before completing the recommended 40 days of postpartum rest.
In an interview with Indian Express, Dr. Shaunak Ajinkya, a consultant psychiatrist at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, explained the importance of giving the body time to recover. Whether the delivery is vaginal or cesarean, he emphasized that the mother’s body needs time to heal. The uterus must contract back to its pre-pregnancy size, and any incisions or tears need time to recover. During this period, the body also sheds the uterine lining through vaginal bleeding, known as lochia.
