Expecting mothers and their partners in Indianapolis can attend free childbirth education classes starting on January 18.
The five-week program is organized by the Indiana Black Breastfeeding Coalition, which offers breastfeeding education, supplies, and advocacy. The classes will cover essential topics such as nutrition, birth plans, labor coping strategies, and selecting doctors or hospitals.
Participants will also receive referrals to doulas—supportive birth companions who assist mothers during and after delivery.
Enrollment is free, though donations are welcome.
The classes will be held at the Marion County Public Health Department’s Indianapolis Healthy Start office, located at 4087 Millersville Road. The first session is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on January 18.
