The Gauteng Department of Health is encouraging new mothers to breastfeed their babies to ensure they receive the necessary nutrients for healthy growth.

JOHANNESBURG – More than 300 babies born in Gauteng this year will be part of Generation Beta.

The province’s health department is advising mothers to breastfeed to provide essential nutrients for their babies’ development. Provincial health spokesperson Motalatale Modiba emphasized the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, particularly in the first six months to one year of a child’s life.

“We strongly encourage mothers to breastfeed exclusively, if possible, during this critical period. Breast milk provides vital nutrients that are essential for the baby’s growth and development,” said Modiba.
