Cans of baby formula sold under the brands Crecelac and Farmalac have been recalled after the manufacturer, Dairy Manufacturers Inc. of Texas, failed to comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) infant formula regulations.
The company did not register the new infant formula products with the FDA as required. Following notification from the FDA, Dairy Manufacturers Inc. issued a voluntary recall of the affected products, which include Crecelac Infant 0-12, Farmalac 0-12, and Farmalac 0-12 Low Lactose. The products, packaged in cans made of cardboard and aluminum, were sold exclusively in retailers across Texas.
While no illnesses have been reported, the FDA emphasized that these products have not been evaluated to ensure they meet U.S. food safety and nutritional standards. As a result, parents and caregivers are urged to avoid using the recalled formulas. Consumers who purchased the affected products can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or concern this may cause and assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of our products,” Dairy Manufacturers Inc. said in a statement.
The company, which typically produces milk replacers for animals and serves various food industries, has committed to ensuring that all future products comply with FDA regulations.
