HYBLA VALLEY, Va. (WUSA) – A dramatic incident unfolded in Hybla Valley when a suspect stole a car with a 4-month-old baby still inside. Fortunately, the infant was found safe, but authorities continue their search for the perpetrator.
Mother’s Relief Amidst Chaos
“I’m just glad it wasn’t worse than what it was,” expressed the baby’s mother, Tedisha Fahie. Her daughter, Naraysa, may not fully comprehend the events that transpired, but for Fahie, the afternoon will forever be etched in her memory.
The Car Theft
Fairfax County police reported that the incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The baby was in the back seat of the family car when an unknown individual stole the vehicle from a shopping center in Hybla Valley. Fahie explained that her husband left the car running while he briefly entered the bank.
“He ran after the car when he saw someone taking it,” Fahie recalled, visibly shaken. “This is where they ended up. He ran after the car. He ran.”
Ongoing Investigation
Despite the husband’s efforts to catch the suspect, the thief fled the scene and remains at large. Police are actively working to secure surveillance footage from the area to aid in their investigation.
Fahie, who had to leave work in a panic, described her emotional state during the ordeal. “I cried because it took so long to get her back,” she said. “We’ve been married for 10 years, and we finally got our baby, and this happens. It’s hard. Why did they even do it? Why take something that’s not yours?”
Recovery of the Child and Vehicle
Thankfully, both Naraysa and the stolen vehicle were located in a parking lot several blocks from the site of the theft. Authorities reported that the baby was unharmed and returned to her relieved mother.
Conclusion
The incident has left the family shaken but grateful for the safe return of their child. As the investigation continues, police urge anyone with information to come forward. The Fahie family is now focused on moving forward, cherishing every moment with their baby after a harrowing experience.
