Reality TV star Lala Kent, known for her role on Vanderpump Rules, has officially welcomed her second child in early September. She shared the exciting news on social media, revealing her newborn’s distinctive name: Sosa Kent.
In a sweet Instagram post, Kent introduced her baby with a photo of the newborn’s feet and simply captioned it with the name “Sosa Kent.”
Although Kent gave birth on September 3, she delayed the name announcement to avoid coinciding with pop icon Beyoncé’s birthday, which falls on September 4. On her podcast, Give Them Lala, Kent explained, “I’m gonna wait. Baby S gets her moment,” showing her desire to let her daughter’s name shine without overshadowing it.
The Meaning Behind the Name “Sosa”
Sosa is a rare and unique name. According to Ancestry.com, the name has Portuguese origins, meaning “salt water.” While it is more commonly seen as a surname—most notably carried by baseball legend Sammy Sosa—it remains an unusual choice for a first name, with no appearances on the Social Security Administration’s top 1,000 baby names list.

Lala Kent is already a mother to a three-year-old daughter named Ocean Kent Emmett, whom she shares with ex-fiancé and film producer Randall Emmett. Ocean’s name also reflects Kent’s apparent love for coastal themes, a trend continued with the name Sosa.
During her second pregnancy, Kent revealed she chose to use a sperm donor and undergo intrauterine insemination (IUI) to conceive. She explained her decision in an interview with Parents magazine, encouraging women to pursue motherhood on their terms. “If the stereotypical cookie-cutter marriage then children is not something that you crave, and you just want a baby—you can do it,” she said.
