Meredith Gaudreau, the wife of late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, shared emotional news at his memorial service on Monday, revealing that she is expecting their third child.
Johnny Gaudreau, 31, and his brother Matthew Gaudreau, 29, tragically lost their lives on August 29 in a fatal accident involving an alleged drunk driver while they were cycling in Oldmans Township, New Jersey.
Johnny, a key player for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and Meredith are already parents to two young children: their daughter Noa, who will turn two in October, and their seven-month-old son Johnny.
At the memorial service for the Gaudreau brothers, Meredith shared the bittersweet news of her pregnancy, announcing that she is nine weeks along and expecting their third child next year.
“John and I shared the most beautiful six months together as a family of four. Those will always be the best months of my life,” Meredith said, according to ABC News. “There is one week in particular that I will always hold close to my heart — it will forever be my favorite. In fact, we’re a family of five now. I’m in my ninth week of pregnancy with our third baby.”
The announcement added another poignant layer to the tragic loss, as the Gaudreau family prepares to welcome their new addition in the midst of their grief.
