Another user expressed surprise at the popularity of Charlotte, saying, “As a Charlotte who was ever the only Charlotte in any group, this blows my mind.”

In North Dakota, one person was shocked by the absence of certain names: “As someone in ND, I am fully shocked it isn’t Aiden, Brynlee, Oakley or some other variation.”

Some comments highlighted unique preferences: “Hawaii, Mississippi, Wyoming” and “I have an Isla. At least we don’t live in Hawaii.”

The SSA’s announcement also included the top overall baby names for 2023. Mateo made its debut on the top 10 list at number six. Liam remained the most popular name for boys, and Olivia continued to lead for girls, consistent with previous years.

The SSA noted that social media stars significantly influenced parents‘ name choices. For instance, Eiden, inspired by TikTok influencer Wyatt Eiden, was the third fastest-rising name for boys. Among girls, the fastest-rising names were Kaeli, Alitzel, Emryn, Adhara, and Azari.

The SSA has been compiling lists of the top baby names since 1997, with records dating back to 1880.
