A couple from Sawtry, Cambridgeshire, has expressed their gratitude to emergency services after their baby was born in their kitchen.
Jessica Roberts gave birth to baby Luca at home on January 20. Earlier that day, she had visited the hospital due to pain and discomfort. However, the baby arrived unexpectedly at home.
After the birth, Jessica was taken to the hospital. Paramedics worked diligently as she began to bleed heavily. Christian Roberts, her partner, praised the team’s efforts, saying, “All the team were amazing, and we are incredibly grateful for their hard work. The situation could have been very different.”
An ambulance arrived eight minutes after the call was made. Christian Roberts noted, “The crew arrived, took control of the situation, and kept us calm. They delivered the baby within four minutes of their arrival.”
Jessica Roberts also commended the paramedics, saying they did a “great job” and expressed her gratitude for their efforts.
The family later visited the crew members at Huntingdon Ambulance Station. Sarah-Jayne Parsons, a paramedic with the East of England Ambulance Service, said it was heartwarming to see the family doing well. She described the scene, stating, “Everything happened very fast, and the baby came quickly. After ensuring baby Luca was okay, we focused on caring for Jessica.”
