Ayesha Curry, the wife of NBA star Stephen Curry, was seen crying following a troubling encounter with French police involving her newborn baby. The incident occurred after Team USA’s victory over France in the men’s basketball final.
Video footage from Hollywood Fix shows Ayesha wiping tears from her eyes while her mother-in-law, Sonya Curry, engages in a heated exchange with Parisian officers. The conflict arose over an unclear situation, but Sonya can be heard accusing someone of touching baby Caius Chai, the couple’s fourth child, who was born prematurely in May. Throughout the confrontation, Caius is seen being held by Ayesha.
Draymond Green, Curry’s Golden State Warriors teammate, is also heard in the footage, claiming that someone hit the baby’s head. The altercation appears to have stemmed from difficulties faced by the Currys and Green, who were being prevented from returning to their car.
Sonya is heard in the video expressing frustration, stating, “Look, they won’t let us go back over there where we came from. They won’t let the driver come here and they won’t let us go back over there.” A man eventually steps in to translate for the police and offers an apology, saying, “Sorry about the baby.”
Although Stephen Curry, who was not visible in the footage, was not seen, Green’s presence was notable as he addressed the situation, questioning the police’s response: “So, even after him hitting the baby in the head, there’s still nothing y’all can do to get them out of here?”
Sonya can be heard angrily demanding help, saying, “What? Stop saying my name. You should be helping us with the baby!” Later, she pleads with the officers to “Let us get to our car.” Meanwhile, Ayesha, despite her visible distress, remains silent throughout the incident. Their other son, Canon, is also seen in the footage draped in an American flag beside his mother.
The Currys have not publicly addressed the incident. They announced the birth of Caius in late May. Stephen Curry shared the news on Instagram, expressing gratitude and noting that the family was adjusting well. The couple’s previous three children were all born in July, during the NBA off-season.
