LIMA, OH – The City of Lima is set to host a regional roundtable focusing on early childhood education and development. Groundwork Ohio, a non-partisan organization dedicated to public policy research and advocacy, will conduct their “Roadshow Listening Tour” at the Lima Public Library next week.
The event begins with registration at 10 a.m. followed by the program from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All members of the public are encouraged to attend.
Mayors Sharetta Smith of Lima and Christina Muryn of Findlay will lead the event, aiming to gather insights from daycare providers, parents, and others involved in the early development of children aged from birth to 5 years.
Mayor Sharetta Smith highlighted that almost 40% of kindergarteners in Lima start school unprepared. The roundtable seeks to address this issue.
“The purpose of the listening session is for this organization to compile a statewide report based on community feedback regarding childcare, and to propose recommendations to the legislature,” Mayor Smith stated.
The “listening tour” will take place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the Lima Library auditorium, located at 650 W Market St, Lima, OH 45801. Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the program runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are encouraged to participate.
