Hatch, a sleep device maker, is recalling nearly 1 million power adapters sold with its Rest 1st Generation sound machines. The plastic housing of these adapters can detach, posing an electrical shock hazard to users, according to a notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Approximately 919,000 of these recalled adapters were sold in the U.S., with over 44,000 units sold in Canada, stated Hatch, based in Palo Alto, California.
“The plastic housing around the AC power adapter of some Rest 1st Generation sound machines can come off when the adapter is removed from the power outlet, exposing the power prongs and creating a shock hazard,” the company said in the notice.
Hatch has received 19 reports of the plastic housing detaching, including two incidents of minor electrical shocks. The affected adapters, made in China, bear the model number CYAP05 050100U.
Hatch has stopped sourcing adapters from Jiangsu Chenyang Electron Co., the company noted in a separate announcement.
Consumers with the recalled adapters should stop using them and contact Hatch for a replacement. The company can be reached at (888) 918-4614 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, via email at [email protected], or online at www.hatch.co/adapterrecall.
The recall affects products sold online at Hatch.co and Amazon, as well as at BestBuy, BuyBuyBaby, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn Kids, and Target stores from January 2019 through September 2022.
