A five-month-old baby was pronounced dead on Monday afternoon after resuscitation attempts earlier that morning on the Stanford University campus.
At around 11:30 a.m., the Stanford University Department of Public Safety informed the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office about an unresponsive infant at an apartment on Barnes Court on the university’s campus, according to sheriff’s officials.
First responders arrived and tried to revive the baby, who was then taken to a hospital. Unfortunately, the baby was declared dead at about 12:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Preliminary investigations suggest no foul play, indicating the baby’s death was accidental, sheriff’s officials said.
A spokesperson for the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office was unavailable for further comment on the incident.
