The Woman’s Club of Steubenville recently held a baby shower during their June meeting at the AIM Women’s Center on North Fifth Street.
Preparations for the event had been underway for several months, with club officials acquiring various baby essentials for six expectant mothers at the center.
Each mother received a generous assortment of gifts, including baby clothes in a laundry basket, diapers, formula, a thermometer set, bathing supplies, blankets, bottles, a diaper bag, and books. Club members fulfilled specific requests from the mothers-to-be, such as bassinets, strollers, and car seats with covers.
Several of the expectant mothers attended the event, expressing their gratitude to the club members for their kindness.
Rebekah Cohen Morris, Executive Director of AIM Women’s Center, also extended her thanks to the club for their support. She briefed attendees about the services offered by the center, emphasizing the crucial assistance provided to pregnant women in need.
Morris highlighted the center’s new initiatives, including abortion pill reversal services and plans to establish a maternity home. She noted that the center operates without federal or state funding, relying on donations like those generated from “choose life” license plate sales.
“The impact of ‘choose life’ license plates on us is significant,” Morris explained, noting an increase in the number of women seeking help this year compared to previous years.
Morris praised the dedicated staff at AIM Women’s Center, particularly the nurses who support the women seeking assistance. She emphasized their commitment to the center’s mission and the positive impact of community support.
Regarding the baby shower, Morris emphasized its importance in fostering relationships between the women at the center and members of the community.
“The baby shower is a wonderful addition,” Morris said. “It allows for personal connections to form and for the community to support these women.”
The event concluded with appreciation from both the expectant mothers and AIM Women’s Center for the generosity and support shown by the Woman’s Club of Steubenville.
