An investigation is underway at King Faisal Hospital in Taif, Saudi Arabia, following allegations of newborns being swapped. Dr. Talal Al Maliki, CEO of the Taif Health division, confirmed the inquiry in a statement to Okaz newspaper. The investigation was initiated after a complaint was filed two weeks ago.
Dr. Al Maliki stated that families involved have been asked to provide DNA samples to verify the parentage of the babies, ensuring they are returned to their rightful parents.
Authorities in Taif have promised severe penalties for those found responsible for the negligence that resulted in the accidental swap of the newborns.
