A woman, unaware she was pregnant, gave birth to a healthy baby boy in the bathroom of a Golden Corral restaurant in North Little Rock on May 4. She named the newborn after the buffet chain.
Tayvia Woodfork experienced sudden stomach pains while dining with her family at the restaurant. Believing she had cramps, she went to the restroom, where she unexpectedly delivered her baby into a toilet.
“I’m still in shock,” Woodfork told local news station KARK.
Woodfork, who had just arrived at the restaurant with her mother Tameka and other family members, quickly realized that her cramps were actually contractions. Within moments, she gave birth to a baby boy.
“My sister looked in the toilet and said, ‘I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s a baby!’” Woodfork recalled.
Woodfork experienced a rare cryptic pregnancy, a condition where a person is unaware of their pregnancy until late stages or even until labor, according to Medical News Today.
Despite the unexpected circumstances, baby Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork was born healthy, weighing six pounds, as confirmed by his grandmother, Tameka Woodfork.
The birth shocked not only Woodfork but also the entire Golden Corral restaurant. Staff and diners applauded as she was taken out on a stretcher.
Back home in Mississippi, the family said, “Everybody wants to see the Golden Corral baby.”
Golden Corral celebrated the event with a Facebook post, welcoming the newborn as their youngest fan.
“IT’S A BOY! Please join us in welcoming Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork, who was so excited that his mother was dining at Golden Corral that he decided to join her!” the post read. “Both mother and son are doing great, and we could not be happier! Welcome to the Golden Corral family, Tamaar! You’re the new record holder as the youngest fan of Golden Corral! And don’t worry, we’ll make sure Mom is well taken care of with Golden Corral gift cards while she’s taking care of you.”
