Mandy Moore, at age 40, is expecting her third child and feels well-versed in motherhood.
At the Las Culturistas Culture Awards on June 15, Moore shared with PEOPLE that the main difference this time around is “just chasing two wild toddlers.” Moore, who is expecting her first daughter, already has two sons, Augustus “Gus,” 3, and Oscar “Ozzie,” 19 months, with her husband Taylor Goldsmith.
One of Moore’s toddlers made a surprise appearance during the event to celebrate her winning the inaugural lifetime culture award. Before accepting the award at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre, Moore received a special video tribute featuring clips from her career and messages from friends and family, including her Princess Diaries co-star Sandra Oh, Tangled co-star Donna Murphy, Goldsmith, and their eldest son.
In the video, Moore’s son tried to announce her career-spanning honor with some help from Goldsmith, both smiling into the camera.
Last month, Moore and Goldsmith announced on Instagram that they are expecting a daughter. They shared a photo of Gus and Ozzie wearing T-shirts labeled “Big” and “Middle,” with Moore captioning it, “Sometimes life imitates art. The third in our own Big Three coming soon. Can’t wait for these boys to have a baby sister.”
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Moore expressed her joy about their growing family. “It’s so much fun,” she said. “Parents love to say it just gets better, and I truly believe that. We have one that’s potty-trained and the other still in diapers, but they’re starting to interact more.”
Moore also acknowledged the dynamic nature of parenting. “My husband and I looked at each other recently and said, ‘This is a good phase.’ But parenting is an ebb and flow. Just when you think you’ve got it handled, a new challenge arises.”
The third annual Las Culturistas Culture Awards, produced by Lauren Mandel of Disco Nap, featured guests like comedians Heather McMahan and Cole Escola, Hacks star Hannah Einbinder, and Julia Fox, with a virtual appearance by Sabrina Carpenter.
Hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers created all the categories and selected the nominees, celebrating cultural moments big and small. Notably, Yang will star in the upcoming movie musical Wicked as Pfannee, a friend of Ariana Grande’s Glinda. Grande made a virtual cameo at the 2023 ceremony to accept the “Alison Williams Cool Girl” award.
Yang and Rogers’ iHeartRadio podcast, which airs weekly, has featured guests including Moore, Kelly Clarkson, Dua Lipa, Ben Platt, Seth Meyers, and Yang’s Saturday Night Live co-star, Sarah Sherman.
