BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – The Parenting and Behavior Support Center celebrated its ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 13, 2024, on Oakwood Avenue in Beckley.
Though the ribbon-cutting took place on Thursday, the center officially opened earlier this month. The ceremony, hosted by Home Base Inc., allowed the community to explore the new facility and its offerings for local families.
Home Base Inc. CEO, Damon Cater, told 59News, “We’re using our space to invite the community for parenting services, peer parent support groups, a clothing pantry, and a food pantry.”
Support Center Director, Dr. Linn Sheik, said, “We aim to help families with reunification, visitations, and other needs to build a stronger future.”
The event featured cake and other treats for visitors. A representative from Senator Joe Manchin’s office attended to convey the senator’s gratitude.
Cater mentioned that while Home Base has served various parts of West Virginia for years, this location could significantly impact the community. “We felt the space was underutilized,” he said. “We believe we can make a bigger impact by utilizing our physical space and resources more effectively.”
The support center operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Therapy sessions are available by appointment.
