HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A 15-year-old has been arrested following an accidental shooting of a baby in Hampton last week, according to police.
The teenager faces charges of possessing a firearm as a juvenile and allowing access to a firearm by a juvenile, police reported on Monday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 28, on Clyde Street. Police stated the teenager obtained an unsecured gun, resulting in the shooting of a 1-year-old. The baby was taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening and is expected to survive.
The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been announced for any adults connected to the victim or the suspect.
