MELAKA: A 27-year-old woman, who was nine months pregnant, and her unborn child were killed in an accident on Jalan Taming Sari on Saturday, June 1.
Melaka Tengah OCPD Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit identified the victim as Puteri Nur Iman Hamidun from Bukit Beruang.
The accident occurred at 10:05 p.m. The victim, who was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle with her 28-year-old husband, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at Melaka Hospital, along with her unborn child.
According to ACP Christopher Patit, the couple was heading to Melaka Hospital for a medical check-up when they collided with a car driven by a 41-year-old housewife in the city center.
The collision happened when the car was exiting a junction and the motorcycle crashed into it.
The victim’s husband, who works as a security guard, sustained bruises, while the car driver was uninjured.
The incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
