Las Vegas, Nev. – Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) toured the Acelero Spring Valley Learning Center to underscore her ongoing support for Head Start programs throughout Nevada. Acelero Learning serves more than 1,100 children and families in Clark County, thanks to funding from the Head Start program. During the visit, Cortez Masto engaged with teachers, administrators, and students, while also highlighting her legislative efforts to secure crucial support for hiring and retaining Head Start personnel.
Cortez Masto reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for Head Start and seeking additional funding to ensure programs like Acelero can continue assisting families in Nevada.
“We understand that with the right resources, every child can thrive. It’s imperative that we make early childhood learning accessible to all Nevada families,” stated Senator Cortez Masto. “That’s why I was proud to support increased funding for Head Start programs like Acelero this year. I will persist in supporting our educators and aiding Nevada’s children in their educational journey.”
“We are privileged to have Senator Cortez Masto visit Acelero Clark County today. We deeply appreciate the Senator’s dedication to early childhood education, including the vital federal funding that sustains the significant efforts of our teachers, staff, and community partners to positively impact the lives of children and families across Clark County,” remarked Dr. Rory B. Sipp, Senior Vice President, Acelero Learning Head Start.
Head Start plays a crucial role in preparing children aged three to five for school, offering educational, nutritional, health, social, and other services to working families at no cost. Earlier this year, Cortez Masto successfully pushed legislation to allocate over $12.2 billion to Head Start for Fiscal Year 2024 – a $275 million increase compared to the previous year.
