In a heartening Mother’s Day narrative, a Delaware County woman defied the odds to embrace what medical experts have dubbed a miracle baby. For Jane Bridge, this cherished arrival marks the culmination of years of hope and longing.
“She’s absolutely wonderful, just perfect,” remarked Bridge. “Her smile lights up our world.”
The journey to Baby Eve’s arrival spanned a remarkable nine years, marked by trials and tribulations.
“There were many tears shed along the way. I began my fertility journey at 35, opting to freeze my eggs,” she recounted.
Determined to pursue motherhood independently, Bridge encountered numerous medical hurdles, including seven lung collapses, four surgeries, two miscarriages, and a failed transfer.
“I faced setbacks that seemed insurmountable, but I refused to surrender,” she reflected.
Residing in Newtown Square, Bridge attributes most of her challenges to endometriosis, a condition where uterine tissue grows outside the uterus.
“She encountered obstacles unlike any we’ve seen before. She’s truly a unique case,” remarked Dr. Isaac Sasson.
Dr. Sasson, affiliated with Shady Grove Fertility, expressed both elation and disbelief at Bridge’s eventual success, conceiving at the age of 43.
“It’s nothing short of a miracle. I’m still in awe that it happened,” he admitted.
Bridge’s pregnancy came to fruition with the last of her five frozen eggs, following multiple unsuccessful attempts with donated eggs and sperm.
“It was an incredible moment, one I once doubted would ever come,” she confessed.
Reflecting on the significance of Mother’s Day, Bridge emphasizes gratitude for the journey that led to Eve’s arrival.
“For me, it’s a celebration of the blessings bestowed upon me,” she remarked.
Fertility specialists at Shady Grove underscore the increasing trend of women, like Bridge, opting for motherhood later in life. However, they caution that the process is often fraught with both triumphs and setbacks.
Now, with one-year-old Eve in her arms, Bridge acknowledges that her unwavering determination and resilience have brought her the greatest joy of all.
“I’ve always had a nurturing instinct. Becoming a mother has fulfilled a lifelong dream,” she concluded.
