Two Arrested Following Infant’s Death at Staten Island NYCHA Complex

WEST BRIGHTON, Staten Island (WABC) — Law enforcement officials have taken two individuals into custody in connection with the tragic death of a one-month-old infant at a NYCHA complex located in Staten Island.

The incident unfolded when authorities responded to a distress call placed on Saturday morning reporting an unresponsive infant at the West Brighton Houses.

Subsequently, Leonard Thompson, aged 38, and Jenice Lightfoot, aged 36, were apprehended later that same Saturday.

While the circumstances surrounding the infant’s demise remain unclear, the Office of the Medical Examiner is slated to conduct a thorough autopsy to determine the cause of death.
