After enduring two miscarriages and a failed IVF cycle, a couple is celebrating the arrival of their long-awaited “miracle” baby.
Vik and Sarina Dosanjh, formerly from Derby but now residing in Walsall, defied the odds with the birth of their son, Hukam, on Saturday.
Describing their journey as a “surreal rollercoaster full of emotion,” Mr. Dosanjh expressed astonishment at their newfound parenthood. “I never thought we would be in this position to have a baby,” he remarked.
The couple’s path to parenthood was marked by setbacks, including two early miscarriages and an unsuccessful round of IVF treatment. Facing bleak odds, they were informed by medical professionals of a mere 10% chance of conceiving naturally. “At that point, we thought to ourselves that it was never going to happen for us,” Mr. Dosanjh revealed.
Contemplating adoption as an alternative, fate intervened as they unexpectedly conceived during the summer months, ultimately leading to the birth of their son.
Choosing the name Hukam for their child, which translates to “God’s will” in Punjabi, the couple found solace in the notion that their son’s arrival was predestined after enduring numerous challenges together.
“I can’t stop looking at him, I can’t put him down, and sometimes I have to pinch myself that we have a child. We are loving every second of it,” Mr. Dosanjh expressed his overwhelming joy.
As avid supporters of Derby County, the Dosanjhs have already adorned their son with three Derby County kits, alongside a wardrobe filled with Rams-themed baby clothes.
With Derby County vying for promotion back to the Championship, the couple sees this as the culmination of a remarkable chapter in their lives. “Sadly the little one will have to watch Derby on the TV this weekend with his Mum, but hopefully, the team can get the job done,” Mr. Dosanjh remarked optimistically.
