Margate law enforcement officials have initiated an investigation following the tragic drowning of a 2-year-old child on Tuesday afternoon.
The distressing incident unfolded shortly after 5 p.m. at a residence situated in the 157 block of NW 79th Avenue.
Aerial footage captured by Chopper 4 revealed a covered pool within the backyard premises, with sections of the residence cordoned off by yellow caution tape.
According to reports, law enforcement personnel administered CPR to the child until Fire/Rescue teams arrived on the scene to assume control of the rescue efforts.
Providing live coverage from the scene at 9 p.m., CBS News Miami correspondent Chelsea Jones recounted a heart-wrenching moment, stating, “We just heard a woman cry in such agony saying, ‘why my baby die?'”
Subsequently, the child was swiftly transported to Broward Health Coral Springs, where tragically, he succumbed to the incident.
