Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce has issued a stern warning as the “dirty diaper bandit” strikes again in North Yarmouth. This peculiar case, initially reported in 2018, has resurfaced once more, prompting Sheriff Joyce to take decisive action.
In a recent interview with the CBS13 I-Team, Sheriff Joyce expressed his concern over the recurring incidents of soiled adult diapers being dumped along the roadside. Despite a hiatus in 2022, these disturbing occurrences have persisted annually since their inception.
“This is a bizarre case,” remarked Sheriff Joyce, reflecting on the perplexing nature of the situation.
Determined to apprehend the perpetrator, Sheriff Joyce has initiated a formal investigation. However, he appeals to the individual responsible, urging them to seek assistance if needed.
“If it’s a quality of life issue, if the individual is having a hard time getting rid of this stuff, I encourage them to give the sheriff’s office a call,” stated Sheriff Joyce, emphasizing the importance of addressing the root cause of the problem.
Despite the presence of ample DNA evidence, Sheriff Joyce laments the lack of a known suspect for comparison. Nevertheless, he remains confident that through continued efforts and potential surveillance measures, the perpetrator will be identified and brought to justice.
“We shouldn’t be having this issue now. There are ways of getting rid of it,” asserted Sheriff Joyce, underscoring the need for responsible disposal methods.
As the community grapples with this unsavory situation, Sheriff Joyce remains steadfast in his commitment to resolving the case and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of North Yarmouth’s roads.
