As a subsidiary of Feihe International Inc., headquartered in China, Canada Royal Milk invested $332 million in constructing a state-of-the-art facility in Kingston in 2019.

The company had previously disclosed its preliminary submissions to Health Canada in 2022, as part of the rigorous regulatory approval process.

Canada Royal Milk outlined its intention to utilize substantial quantities of cow and goat milk to produce fortified cow milk powder, whole goat milk powder, and skim goat milk powder tailored for infants.

Following the announcement on Wednesday, Canada Royal Milk disclosed the initiation of production for its inaugural batch of infant formula. The company anticipates making the product available on retail shelves nationwide by the summer.

Employing over 150 individuals, Canada Royal Milk operates from its expansive 320,000-square-foot facility in Kingston. Initially focused on the production of powdered milk, the company’s expansion into infant formula production marks the culmination of a two-year regulatory process.

Chenghang Han, the general manager of the plant, revealed to Global News that preparations are underway for the manufacturing process, with an expected release of the product slated for mid-summer.

“We have initiated the procurement process in late January, and we are currently awaiting the arrival of materials,” stated Han. “According to our schedule, we anticipate commencing manufacturing and releasing the product in the middle of this summer, providing local infant formula options for all Canadian consumers.”
