Daytona Beach, FL – In a harrowing incident early Tuesday, firefighters responding to an apartment fire on Beville Road made a grim discovery: a woman stabbed to death. The tragic event unfolded as crews battled the blaze, revealing three young children inside the residence. The Daytona Beach Fire Department reported the distressing incident, stating that the children were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, the youngest child, an infant, succumbed to injuries and passed away.
The Daytona Beach Fire Department responded to the structure fire in the 1200 block of Beville Road around midnight, encountering heavy smoke upon arrival. The department’s official Twitter account shared updates, indicating the discovery of one adult and three children in the apartment. The infant was found in cardiac arrest, and the adult, later identified as the mother, was already deceased. The State Fire Marshal was summoned to investigate the tragic scene.
Authorities have refrained from disclosing the baby’s cause of death or providing details on the injuries and current conditions of the surviving children, aged 4 and 5.
“The next of kin has yet to be identified, so I can’t give you any specifics as far as names,” stated Chief Jakari Young. “This is a horrific incident; we are two days out from a holiday that centers around family.”
Chief Young further revealed that, following the arrival of the medical examiner, it was determined that the mother had suffered multiple stab wounds. The identity of the mother has not been released, and the Daytona Beach Police Department has initiated a homicide investigation. As of now, no suspects have been named in connection with the case.
The fire, which began around midnight at the Countryside Apartments, left a community in shock. The infant was discovered in a crib near the mother, adding to the gravity of the already devastating situation. The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing, as authorities work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing and the subsequent apartment fire.
