Yoocaa Recalls 4,000 Baby Loungers Due to Safety Concerns

by sun

Yoocaa Direct of China has issued a recall for approximately 4,140 Yoocaa baby loungers due to safety concerns. The recall comes as a result of these loungers failing to meet the safety requirements set forth by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) Infant Sleep Products Rule. This non-compliance has raised concerns about the product’s potential to create an unsafe sleeping environment, posing risks of suffocation, falls, and entrapment hazards.

The key safety issues identified in the recalled baby loungers include:

Lack of Stand: The baby loungers do not feature a stand, which is a violation of the CPSC’s Infant Sleep Products Rule.

Inadequate Side Height: The sides of the baby loungers fall short of the minimum side height limit, which can result in an unsafe sleeping environment.

Excessive Sleeping Pad Thickness: The thickness of the sleeping pad exceeds the maximum allowable limit.

Enclosed Opening Risk: The design of the baby lounger includes an enclosed opening at the foot, which raises concerns about infants potentially falling out or becoming trapped.

It’s important to note that no incidents or injuries have been reported thus far related to these safety concerns.

The recalled baby loungers are characterized by their cloth cover, foam sleeping pad, and padded bumper. They were marketed as “baby loungers” and “baby nests,” available in various printed fabrics and colors, including animal, blue star, cloud, feather, flower, forest, leaf, pink star, polar bear, and zoo. Additionally, the label “SLEEPING SET” is sewn on the interior of the cover.

This recall applies to products purchased on or after June 23, 2022. Consumers who are unsure about their purchase date can review their Amazon purchase history or the packaging, which should include a “LOT: YYYYMMDD” marking. The recall specifically covers products manufactured with “LOT” markings on the packaging from June 23, 2022, or later.

These baby loungers, which were manufactured in China, were exclusively sold online at Amazon.com from January 2021 through May 2023, with prices ranging from $30 to $55.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers who have purchased these recalled baby loungers are urged to stop using them immediately. Yoocaa Direct is providing instructions on how to receive a full refund and properly dispose of the product. The company, in collaboration with Amazon, is actively contacting known purchasers directly to provide information about the recall.
