Fresno District Attorney Pursues Death Penalty in Mother and Baby Homicide Case

The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office has officially declared its intention to seek the death penalty in the tragic case of a woman accused of murdering her sister and her three-week-old niece in September 2022.

The prosecution will be pursuing the death penalty for Yarelly Solorio-Rivera, the alleged perpetrator who, according to authorities, used a 9mm handgun to fatally shoot 18-year-old Yanelly Solorio-Rivera and her infant daughter, Celine.

The District Attorney’s Office alleges that Yarelly Solorio-Rivera, in collaboration with her boyfriend, Martin Arroyo-Morales, conspired to commit these gruesome murders within the confines of their residence in southwest Fresno. The horrific incident unfolded on September 24, 2022.

It is important to note that the prosecution has clarified that they will not be pursuing the death penalty against the co-defendant in the case, 26-year-old Martin Arroyo-Morales.
