Target has recalled over 26,000 tubs of Good & Gather baby food due to elevated lead levels, the retailer announced on March 12.
The voluntary recall affects 26,500 units of the Good & Gather Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Purée, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“We are committed to providing safe, high-quality products for our guests,” Target said in a statement to USA TODAY. “This recall involved a limited amount of product, and we took immediate action to remove it from our shelves.”
The FDA classified the recall as a Class II, which means the product poses a risk of temporary or medically reversible health issues, though the likelihood of serious consequences is low.
Lead exposure is particularly concerning for babies and young children, as even small amounts can impact behavior, cognitive development, and academic performance, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
The recall involves two lots of the 4-ounce packages of Good & Gather baby food, with the following details:
- Best By Dates: Dec. 7, 2025, and Dec. 9, 2025
- Lot Numbers: 4167 and 4169
- UPC: 1 91907-99314 1
The affected products are no longer in circulation.
